Why never pressure a roof
The dark streaks running down a Florida roof are algae - gloeocapsa magma - feeding on the limestone filler in the shingles. A pressure washer will blast off the granules that protect your shingles and void most roof warranties.
Soft washing is the manufacturer-approved method. We apply a cleaning solution at low pressure that kills the algae and moss at the root, then let it rinse with the next rains. The streaks lift, the growth dies back, and the roof surface is untouched.
Because the solution kills the organism rather than just rinsing the surface, the result lasts far longer than a pressure blast that grows back in a season.
